The use of pine cones in the treatment of stroke

On the curative effects of tannins of young pine cones it is worth a stop. Numerous experimental studies conducted in the US and Europe, it was found that tannins are capable of exerting such effects in terms of neurons (brain cells):

  1. Cerebroprotective – reduction of sensitivity to reduced blood flow and, consequently, increased resistance to ischemia (oxygen starvation). This reduces the risk of their stroke lesions;
  2. Recovery of the affected but not completely destroyed by the stroke process, brain cells;
  3. Slowing irreversible neuronal death. This effect continues to be studied. It is planned the creation of products based on tannin of pine cones. In stroke in the acute period of the disease, they can become the basic means;
  4. Equally good efficacy in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.

As a note to this section, it is worth to mention that fir cones have similar effects. Their action derived in the studies showed high effectiveness against stroke. But the positive effect on the recovery of brain cells is very impressive.

How to make pine cones

To prepare the medicine for stroke patients based on pine cones, you need substances that are able to extract all the useful components. For these purposes well suited alcoholic solutions of different concentrations. You can use a decoction of pine cones, but it is partly deprived of the whole scope of healing effects. Therefore, it is best to prepare a tincture of pine-cones.

For its preparation we need young green cones. Usually, for any medicinal purposes is harvested in June. But for stroke patients it is better to use pine cones collected from July to September. They must be still unsolved, but not very young. In this they are above all the concentration of tannins and volatile. Tincture based on them will be most effective.
