The normal heart rate in children and adults

Heart rate is the number of heartbeats per unit time (usually per minute). It is believed that heart rate is the same as the pulse, but it is not.

Different heart rate heart rate

As already mentioned, the heart rate shows the number of contractions the heart, namely, the lower parts of the ventricles in a minute.

Heart rate, or pulse rate, is the amount of extension of the artery at the time of ejection of blood by the heart per minute. The blood in passing through the vessels during contraction of the heart creates a bulge in the arteries, which is determined by touch.

The value of heart rate and heart rate may be equal to, but not always, but only in healthy people.

For example, rhythm disturbances of the heart beats erratically. If it dropped twice in a row, the left ventricle is not yet filled with blood. Thus, the second reduction occurs when the ventricle is empty, and the aorta and peripheral vessels, the blood is not ejected. Therefore, the pulse in the arteries to audition will not, while the contraction of the heart has occurred. In atrial fibrillation and other diseases resting heart rate does not correspond to the pulse rate. This phenomenon is called pulse deficit. In such cases, it is impossible to determine heart rate by measuring the pulse. This can only be done by listening to the heart beats, for example, with the help of a stethoscope.

Causes of tachycardia and bradycardia

If the heart rate in a quiet state does not meet the standards, it can be a sign of disease. Usually there are other manifestations of the disease.

If tachycardia is accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, weakness, syncope, not eliminated:

  • infectious disease;
  • heart disease;
  • the beginning of the stroke;
  • endocrine disorders;
  • diseases of the nervous system;
  • neoplastic processes;
  • anemia.

Bradycardia is normal can be observed in the following cases:

  • athletes (40 strokes);
  • people engaged in heavy physical labor;
  • when taking certain medications.

It can be a symptom of illness:

  • poisoning;
  • heart attack;
  • stomach ulcers;
  • hypothyroidism;
  • inflammation of the myocardium.

How to measure
